Every year, during the International Biometrical Colloquium, a prize was awarded to the best work in biometrics presented during the conference. The prize was funded by the company StatSoft Poland (distributor of STATISTICA, www.statsoft.pl).

Competition rules:

  1. A candidate for the prize for the best presentation at the Colloquium must be less than 35 years of age at the time of filing.
  2. Entries must be submitted to the Conference Organizing Committee on arrival at the Conference.
  3. A decision to award a prize for a presented paper, taking into account the content and form of the presentation, is taken by the jury by secret ballot.
  4. The jury will be appointed at the Conference. It will consist of all members of the Scientific Council, the Management Board and the Audit Committee of the PBS who are present at the conference. The jury is chaired by the Chair of the Scientific Council or, in the latter’s absence, the Chair of the Management Board; in the absence of both of these persons, the chair of the jury is elected by the members present, from among their number, in open voting.
  5. The use of STATISTICA is not a condition for entry to the competition, but it will be appreciated.
  6. The size of the money prize will be determined annually. In 2010 it was 1500 zloty. In addition, StatSoft Poland will fund a commemorative medal for the winner.
